This Week's Topic/Question
When you receive new books in the mail, do the older ones get moved to the bottom of your list or do go strictly "by the book" and keep your list with older books first and then the new ones?

My Answer:
Good question! Mmmmmm. I'd say, it depends on two things: (1) how much am I enjoying the current book I'm reading, and (2) how much did I want to read the book I just received.
If I'm not enjoying a book I'm reading, I'm likely to immediately jump ship for the new book and revisit the other book when I'm done. However, if I'm enjoying my current read, I'll finish it and read the new arrival when I'm done. I might try read it faster if the new book is something I've been waiting for.
If it's something I've been waiting for, I will likely drop everything to read it. These are typically the books I read in one or two days. I'm just so excited by the time it arrives, I just have to finish it now now now! Especially if it's the final book in a series. I hate spoilers above all things.
I don't really think to hard about sticking to a reading queue though; my to-read pile is to long for that. The book that's screaming at me to be read next gets read next. The next book in a series that I love usually gets top priority, followed by any books for reading challenges.

Great answer! I usually try to finish the book I'm reading, even if I'd rather read something else. But I just read as much as possible to get it done sooner (:

It would be better for me to finish the books I'm reading before I move on, but hey. We're all weak sometimes, right.
DeleteThanks for stopping by and following me. I appreciate it!
I usually jump ship to the new book, if I was really looking forward to it; however, lately, I have been needing to keep to a book reading schedule. My new books have been taunting me, while I continue to read other books.
ReplyDeleteIt would probably be best to keep to a schedule. But I've got to be the organized one at work so, nah, I'll pass :) Plus, I seem to be very susceptible to "new book taunts".
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Hi !! I might do that if a rally great book screams out at me other than that....

Great answer but I never read more then 1 book at a time. I always finish what I'm currently reading first.

DeleteVery nice answer. I am boring and follow a list of to be read books. :)

You say boring, but perhaps it's wise to follow a schedule. I'm currently reading 6 books... it's not going so well and I have no idea when or if i'm going to finish them, lol.
DeleteI love your answer. I am very very whatever mood hits me. Sometimes I will be in a genre for a month then get sick of it then change to another for a month or two.
