Book Blogger Hop: March 7th - 13th — Schedule for Blogging/Reading?

Book Blogger Hop

Welcome everyone to another post of Book Blogger Hop (hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer). Each week there will be a new topic submit by a blogger and everyone can join in with their answers. You should join us! It's quite fun!

This Week's Topic/Question

Do you have a schedule set for blogging and reading time? Or do you not have a set time and just let it happen? (submitted by Elisabeth @ Silver's Reviews)

My Answer:

Ah, discipline; she is a strange mistress. No, I do not have a schedule for blogging or reading. But, do I need one? Yes ... yes, I do.

It's been exactly one month since I've cracked open a new book. And as a book blogger, this sounds really crazy. But at least I have a reason. It might not be a good one, but it's a reason nonetheless. I fell back into the magical world of Harry Dresden and got completely swept up in the majesty that is this story being narrated by the wonderful James Marsters. He just is freaking Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden. His narration is perfect. He the story just oozes from his lips; every inflection and all the accents he does just makes it so captivating to listen to. It all has me wanting more more more! So... that rambling is to say for the entire (short) month of February, I've been listening to the audiobooks starting from Book 1 about a week in. I'm now wrapping up Book 6.

While this has been an extremely pleasurable experience for me, my blog would be kicking up dust and blowing tumbleweeds if it wasn't for memes. Which would be okay if it wasn't for the guilt I feel. I feel like this blog is my baby and the poor thing has been neglected, and if I don't get my s*** together child services is just around the corner.

What makes this even more hilarious (... or pathetic) is that I actually predicted this problem in December and bought a monthly calendar to prevent this from happening. Better shake of the dust of of it and get something figured out. Any tips would be most welcome... seriously. Yours truly is not a planner. Mom was mighty stingy with the A-personality genes; kept them all to herself.

  1. Memes are totally my blog's saviour! Sometimes it's just so hard to find proper time to read so I do the weekly memes and read as quickly as I can! And there's nothing wrong with enjoying an amazing audio book! I mean...if we book bloggers didn't understand how a book or series can sweep you away, then who would? Thanks for sharing :) Hope you have a good weekend!

  2. Sadly, I lack planning genes as well - or should I say, I can plan, but I lack the genes that allow me to follow the plan easily! Maybe I can manage a plan for next month... (says the eternal procrastinator). Here's my response: http://reading2011.blogspot.com/2014/03/book-blogger-hop.html

  3. I love your answer. Still laughing out loud at work! (SLOL@W) Thanks!!!
I have to say that since I starting blogging having a blog day (mostly) Saturdays in the am and a calendar are the BFF's of blogging. I have a notebook too that I just throw notes in about blog ideas, list of books that are read and need reviews, whatever I think I need to put on paper. Now all that being said when life gets to be a hot mess these BFF's turn into friendemies. And they sit there taunting me for days on end.

For reading that is different... I need to start scheduling reading time. *sigh*

    1. We aim to please, Alysia.

Thanks for the tips! Considering I bought a calendar for my blog and a notebook for notes, I might as well use them right.I'm thinking I might try to at least read one chapter a day in all the books I'm currently reading. I mean... it might be slow a snail's crawl, but it's progress.

  6. I have a monthly planner to help with ARC deadlines and to make sure that I have enough posts for the month. I have been trying to have at least one week's worth of posts written.
