Audiobook Review: Grey (Fifty Shades #4) by E.L. James

Book Series: Fifty Shades, Book #4
Author: E.L. James (Twitter)
Genres: Erotic Romance, Realistic Fiction Erotica,
Format: Audiobook (Amazon | Audible)
Narrators: Zachary Webber
Length: 18 hrs and 46 mins
Release Date: June 18, 2015
See the world of Fifty Shades of Grey anew through the eyes of Christian Grey.

In Christian's own words, and through his thoughts, reflections, and dreams, E L James offers a fresh perspective on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the world.

Christian Grey exercises control in all things; his world is neat, disciplined, and utterly empty—until the day that Anastasia Steele falls into his office, in a tangle of shapely limbs and tumbling brown hair. He tries to forget her, but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist. Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him—past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian’s cold, wounded heart.

Will being with Ana dispel the horrors of his childhood that haunt Christian every night? Or will his dark sexual desires, his compulsion to control, and the self-loathing that fills his soul drive this girl away and destroy the fragile hope she offers him?

I really enjoyed this book. Like I've said before, Christian's character had way more depth, and deserved his own POV.

Book Blogger Hop: Aug 14th - 20th — Have Books, Will Travel

"Book Blogger Hop" is a weekly meme where our fellow blogger submit new topics and everyone joins in with their answers.

This Week's Topic/Question:
Are you ever without a book? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver's Reviews)

My Answer:
No... *shudders*, heck no.

I've always got my iPhone and my iPod. My iPhone has ever app you can think ofAudible, Kindle, Nook, iBooks and for my library, Overdrive. All are full of books. My iPod has the audiobooks for my favorite book series on it at all times, plus a few more.

Also, I have at least 3 books checked out from the library. They stay in a tote in my car, so they're always on hand.

And no small purses for me. Must be roomy enough to fit a hardback.

Book Blogger Hop: Aug 7th - 13th — Holiday-themed Reviews

"Book Blogger Hop" is a weekly meme where our fellow blogger submit new topics and everyone joins in with their answers.

This Week's Topic/Question:
Do you ever do a review post based on a holiday? For example review Christmas theme books in December. (submitted by Bunnita @ Worth Reading It?)

My Answer:
That would require a lot more planning then I usually do, but I'd like to!

I'm normally driven to read books according to my mood & TBR, but my blog posts suffer when it comes to variety. This will be a goal for this Christmasthanks!

"Waiting On" Wednesday: Wrapped and Strapped (Blacktop Cowboys #7) by Lorelei James

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event that spotlights eagerly-anticipated upcoming releases.

Title: Wrapped and Strapped
Book Series: Blacktop Cowboys, Book 7
Author: Lorelei James (Twitter)
Genres: Western, Contemporary, Erotic Romance, Cowboys, Cowgirls
Release Date: September 1, 2015
In the new Blacktop Cowboys® Novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Hillbilly Rockstar strange bedfellows find common ground after the lights go down…

Flower child, vegetarian and humanitarian Harlow Pratt and gruff and strapping cattle ranch foreman Hugh Pritchett have been taunting each other for years. Hugh thinks she’s nothing but a spoiled rich girl, and he’s had enough of that life with his ex-wife. Harlow thinks Hugh is an ill-mannered trouble-maker who wouldn't know fun if it bit him on his tight denim-clad butt.

When they’re forced together at the Split Rock Ranch and Resort, everything changes. They might be polar opposites, but working out their differences skin to skin, in the dark, seems to help their incompatibility a lot. But when trouble from both their pasts comes calling, Harlow and Hugh have no one else to lean on. Can they trust one another enough to make it through the hard times together… or will their tentative truce fall apart?

Why I Picked It:  This is one of my favorite series, so I'll be catching all the books until the very end. I'm really excited that it's Hugh; love the quite ones.

MECHANICA
Author: Tera Lynn Childs (Twitter)
Genre(s): YA, Steampunk, Fairytale Retold
Release Date: August 4, 2015

Nicolette’s awful stepsisters call her “Mechanica” to demean her, but the nickname fits: she learned to be an inventor at her mother’s knee. Her mom is gone now, though, and the Steps have turned her into a servant in her own home.

But on her sixteenth birthday, Nicolette discovers a secret workshop in the cellar and begins to dare to imagine a new life for herself. Could the mysterious books and tools hidden there—and the mechanical menagerie, led by a tiny metal horse named Jules—be the key to escaping her dreary existence? With a technological exposition and royal ball on the horizon, the timing might just be perfect for Nicolette to earn her freedom at last.

Gorgeous prose and themes of social justice and family shine in this richly imagined Cinderella retelling about an indomitable inventor who finds her prince . . . but realizes she doesn't want a fairy tale happy ending after all.
